I am alive! Big changes going on - I've applied for the nursing program again. Why? Because I've transfered to a direct patient care position at WMC! That's right - I've given up my cushy desk job where I just sit, type numbers, listen to audio books (for boredom), and gain weight all day! I've been approved to transfer over to the Cardiac Cath Lab Holding Area where I'll be a CIU tech (Cardiovascular Invasive Unit). I'll actually do more than a CNA - IVs, foley catheters, shave/prep the site (groin), blood pressures, labs, test blood sugar, etc; plus the hours can be 4:45am or 11am - and I take a $1 pay cut for this! Sometimes I think I'm crazy, but with this job I get the experience and the time flexibility that I need to get my RN license. Lynnie (the director of the cardiovascular department) is extremely supportive of education and me. This is my last chance for a career and school, so I better take advantage of it and my parents last offer of educational generosity. My dad has worked in the Cardiac Cath Lab field for about 30 years, so at least I'll have my own personal tutor. ^_^
