Happiness Never Lasts

I should have know better. Happiness and good luck never lasts. One week ago, I finally started my new job as a Cardiac Cath Lab tech at a top 100 ranked hospital partly for our cardiovascular work. I've waited my whole life for such an oppurtunity for a career and the starting salary is $18.48/hr, which is a tremendous help that we need. And things have gone well so far, I've just been wanting to see my first big paycheck.

But today, my hubby got suspended from his job for 3 days and is waiting to hear if he's fired for doing probably the right thing. His best friend, JR (and former supervisor) is away in the war and we are very close to his parents. Well, today Don got a note as soon as he got to work - JR's grandmother passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon and they wish for him to come over right away. So good ol' Don left work (with his supervisor's permission) to go comfort JR's distraught parents. Well, the warehouse manager called and made him come back to work, but not to clock in. So as I stated earlier, now he's suspended for 3 days without pay and quite possibly won't have a job when he goes back on Thursday either. He called me at work and I got so upset that they called our director to come comfort me. She heard my story out and said, "You're very upset and you can't learn when you're upset, go on home! Call me if you need anything." At least MY boss is human! Now I have to go in tomorrow though, on my scheduled day off.

Not much to do now, but wait. I made Don a really nice resume and cover letter for an anime store website that is seriously 5 miles away [link] They pay almost the same as Don's current job now. I pray he gets it! He's going to go job hunting tomorrow too. I HATE CARQUEST!!! Never ever, ever work there! I can't even tell my Mom about this, because she'll flip out and it'll ruin my parents' vacation that they leave on for this Friday. Well, wish us luck. Serves me right for being happy for more than a day I guess.

Damn. That's downright awful--I agree, Don did the right thing.

Honestly, this might be a blessing in disguise. CarQuest sounded like a hell of a job, and not in a good way. D: I wish Don luck.

* Bonk. * You shouldn't chastise yourself for having a good day. There is nothing wrong with letting yourself have a good day. Really good days don't come along very often, so there isn't anything wrong with savoring them when they do come.

And bad things are bound to happen, but this might not be for the worst. Don did what he thought was right and in the long run that means more. He was there for the people who needed him when they needed him the most. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to do the right thing. And you never know, he just might get a job that he enjoys more out of the deal which would make things infinitely better for the both of you.

In the end, I do hope it works out for the both of you. And remember that we're all here for you if you need us.

Thank you so much! I appreciate all your support. Don did manage to keep his job somehow. He did do the right thing, I just find it absolutely ridiculous how his work handles things. It's not like this was someone's grandmother that they didn't know - it's one of their employees (a supervisor) that is away in the war. Anyway, sorry to have been so mopy. I've just been frustrated with how when something goes good, something else soon turns into a disaster. Thus is life. Mostly things have been going well. ^_^
